A Subscriber Identity Module card (more commonly known by its abbreviation SIM card) can be found on any mobile phone (What if your phone has an Invalid SIM Card?). In the past, they were commonly used to store contact information on. However, this is now outdated, and most people choose to save this information on their phone’s storage instead. That being said, there are people who still do this (and save other data on it), and that’s why SIM card data recovery or print SMS text messages from Android might be used.
If you’re one of the people who has done this, and you experience data loss, we recommend dr.fone. This program’s iOS Data Recovery features are exceptional, easy to use, and it offers flexible recovery. The three data recovery options that dr.fone Toolkit includes are:
- Recover SIM card data directly from your iPhone.
- Recover SIM card data from an iTunes backup.
- Recover Sim Card data from an iCloud backup.
We’re going to be looking at each of these options and showing you how they can be used.
Using dr.fone – iOS Recover

- Selectively recover data to prevent unnecessary data restoration.
- Existing data on your iPhone isn’t overwritten upon recovery.
- The powerful Android SD card recovery can recover data regardless of how it was lost (e.g., accidental deletion, factory reset, jailbreaking, etc.).
Now that you’ve learned more about dr.fone – iOS Recover. Let’s look at each solution. Prior to following any of our dr.fone toolkit guides, download and install the program.
A. SIM Card Data Recovery Directly from iPhone
The first option that you have is to recover the data directly from your iPhone. SIM card data recovery via a direct iPhone connection usually works, unless the data has been overwritten.
#1 – Launch dr.fone – iOS Data Recovery and connect your iPhone using a lightning cable.
#2 – From the menu on the left, click on “Recover from iOS Device” under “Data Recovery” Feature.
#3 – Your iPhone will be detected and from the following menu, select the necessary data types.
#4 – After selecting the data types you require (or checking the “Deleted Data from the Device” box), click “Start Scan“.
#5 – Once the scan is complete simply go through each data type and select the data you want to have recovered.
#6 – Click on “Restore to Device” and after just a few minutes, you’ll find the lost data available on your iPhone once again.
As you can see this is very simple to use. However, as we mentioned above, if the deleted data has been completely overwritten, alternative solutions must be used.
B. Recover SIM Card Data from an iTunes Backup
Another option that you have with dr.fone is to recover the data from an iTunes backup. All iPhone users should take regular backups of their device. If you recently took a backup of the data which was deleted using iTunes, you can recover it too.
#1 – Open dr.fone and connect your iPhone using a lightning cable.
#2 – Click on “Recover from iTunes Backup File” under the “Data Recovery” Feature menu.
#3 – After the list has loaded, select the iTunes backup file that contains the data which you want to recover. Click on “Start Scan” to proceed.
#4 – The scan should take only a few minutes, and once it has concluded, you can browse the data freely.
#5 – Locate and select all of the data that you want to have recovered from the iTunes backup. If you want an entire data type recovered, check the box next to that data type.
#6 – Lastly, click on “Recover to Computer”, select somewhere to save the data to, and it’s back!
While you have to manually transfer the data back to your iPhone after SIM card data recovery, it’s simple. By dragging the data onto iTunes, it will be added to your library and synced with your iPhone instantly.
Nonetheless, this is a method which will break down the scan of your iTunes backup and show you what’s inside. Previewing data means that you don’t have any existing data overwritten, furthering the efficiency of this program.
C. SIM Card Data Recovery from an iCloud Backup
With this final iOS SIM card data recovery solution, we’ll be using iCloud backups. This is a very similar method to using iTunes and is just as easy to follow.
One question that we see time and time again is regarding privacy. By using this method, you must insert your iCloud account information so that your backups can be accessed. dr.fone does not store your account information for any reason at all.
#1 – Open the idr.fone program and from the left menu, click on “Recover from iCloud Backup File” under “Data Recovery” Feature.
#2 – Enter your Apple ID and password as requested.
#3 – The list of backups that are stored on your iCloud account will be shown. Locate the appropriate backup and click on the “Download” button.
Note: if you can’t find the iCloud backup that you’re looking for, click “Logout” at the bottom and sign back in. Sometimes backups are overlooked.
#4 – A popup menu will now be shown on your monitor. Click on any of the data types that you want to be downloaded from the backup and click on “Next”.
#5 – It will take a few minutes to download this data (depending on your internet speeds).
#6 – Lastly, go through the data and select any of the files that you want to recover. Click on “Recover to Computer”, then “Export all the selected file types”, and select somewhere to export it to.
The only restriction that there is to using this iCloud feature for SIM card data recovery is your internet. If your internet speeds are slow, then it could take a while for the data to be downloaded. However, given that you can select the data types that you want to be downloaded, it’s easy to speed up the process.

Of course, if you have an Android phone then you won’t be able to use any of the solutions that we showed you above. As frustrating as this might be, there is another program specifically for Android phones – FoneLab for Android.
